Air Jordan 2 Unreleased Prototype Auction

Following the success of the Air Jordan 1, Nike‘s Jordan Brand had the heavy task of creating a follow-up that would match the popularity of Michael Jordan‘s debut signature shoe. Storied footwear designers Peter Moore and Bruce Kilgore took on the task of creating the Air Jordan 2, a distinct installment in the Air Jordan. The shoe looked to capture a sense of sophistication, fueled by Moore and Kilgore's trip to Italy and inspiration drawn from the construction of the country's luxury footwear.

But before the Air Jordan 2 design that we know today there was a prototype that continued more elements of the AJ1. The unreleased Air Jordan 2 Prototype is defined by the use of faux reptile skin leather, high-top ankle, molded heel counters, upper perforations, eyelets, and the notable first appearance of Jordan Brand's Wings motif. Offering a chance to own an interesting part of Michael Jordan's signature shoe history, the shoe in a "Black/White" colorway marked by weathering is now up for auction.

Bidding is currently at $525 USD for the unreleased Air Jordan 2 Prototype currently on auction via Heritage Auctions until June 21.
